SHADING SPHERES
Create a VALUE SCALE. The first box is ONLY white and the last box is ONLY black.
Can you make each box a DIFFERENT SHADE going from lightest to darkest?
Hold out the paper in front of you once in a while and look to see if the changes are obvious.
Now, pick at least ONE of the following spheres above and redraw it in the box below.
Include all values. (Including the shadows below.) For extra credit, choose the one in the center!
1) Sketch the shape of the sphere AND cast shadow
2) Locate highlight areas (remember to leave these white. DO NOT OUTLINE HIGHLIGHTS)
3) Start with DARK values FIRST.
4) Add midtones
5) AND JUST DO! Don’t over think this- just look for the shapes the values make. Do your best!
