MIRACOSTA COLLEGE CLASS TITLE: GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) RESEARCH & ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the GEAR UP Project Direction (in consultation with the Director of Institutional Research and the Director of Fiscal Services), assist in the preparation of financial and academic reports required by the GEAR UP grant. Compile data in support of GEAR UP objectives and reporting requirements. Manage budget allocation and oversee GEAR UP expenses in accordance with federal grant fiscal guidelines. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: 1. Assist in the preparation, development, and maintenance of the budget; analyze and summarize budget expenditures. (E) 2. Research, compile and analyze a variety of information and data related to the fiscal and research requirements of the GEAR UP grant; prepare comprehensive analytical reports. (E) 3. Provide pertinent fiscal and research information to GEAR UP partners, School Site GEAR UP Coordinators, and research consultants. (E) 4. Coordinate data entry activities to ensure accurate GEAR UP reporting. 5. Provide periodic written fiscal and research data summaries to appropriate GEAR UP partner staff members. 6. Prepare drafts of required GEAR UP grant research and fiscal reports. (E) 7. Perform related duties as assigned.
