Important Additional Information for the Faculty Research Enhancement Program
With justification, budget requests can include faculty released time, wages for students or other assistants,
computer software, equipment, and other legitimate costs associated with the project. Travel will only be funded for
collection of data and international travel is not an allowable cost. When faculty released time is requested, it must
be sufficient to cover the hiring of an adjunct to teach the course you are requesting release from. Requests for
equipment and/or software require quotes and endorsement from the applicant’s Department Head and Dean since
the department and college will bear the cost of upgrades and maintenance.
Once funded, changes to the budget will not be made except under only the most severe of circumstances and then
only with the approval of the Vice Provost for Research. On the rare occasion that changes to the budget are
granted, the scope of work cannot change and funds allocated for student help must be expended on students.
Final reports are due by 30 September of the year the funding expires. Failure to provide the reports by the deadline
will disqualify the awardee from future research support. The report should include a final statement showing
disbursement of all funds. It is the awardee’s responsibility to submit an electronic copy of this report to the Office of
Research and Sponsored Programs.
