Space Committee Meeting MINUTES October 3, 2012 Members in Attendance - Shari Shuman, Pierre Allaire, Newton Jackson, Carlo Fassi, Karthikeyan Umapathy, Scott Hochwald Support Staff Present - Zak Ovadia, John Hale, Elizabeth Jones, Everett Malcolm, Mike McGuire, Mary Mory, Dan Sacks 1. 2. Project Timelines - Minor adjustments at the Student Wellness Center. - The Northeast Connector Road has been renamed Varsity Lane and is now complete. The process to remove the portable has started. p Dining Facility/Osprey Commons - This building is now called The Commons. The dining facility will be called the Osprey Café at The Commons. - Substantial completion for the 3rd and 4th floors is scheduled for November. The Faculty Association will move in January. Campus Planning will move in late November/early December. Faculty Enhancement can move in when they are ready after the middle of November. 3. Housing Clubhouse - A presentation was made to the President. The western elevation has been modified to be more compatible with the eastern elevation. This will be finalized once the President is able to review the new drawings. - The former Housing portables are leases and will be returned in the next few months. 4. Buildings 3, 4 and 50 - Building 50- electrical work should be finished in 1½ weeks. - Building 3 (Math Lab) - on hold due to the HVAC system which will not support the number of people or the number of computer stations desired. John Hale has asked additional questions and is waiting for a cost estimate. - Building 4 – the demolition work on the 1st floor is complete. Physical Facilities will finish with the paint and flooring. Additional monies may be identified for two offices. 5. GLC: Women’s Golf Locker Room - Renovations should be completed in 2 weeks. 6. Greek Housing - Several meetings and focus groups have taken place. - Moving forward with market analysis. 7. Interfaith Chapel at the Sanctuary - The invitation to compete for the design competition will be advertised to all architects registered in Florida. 8. Renovations: Building 8 - Sbarros will be renovated to be a Chick-fil-A and the Salsarita’s in the Student Union food court will be renovated to become a Papa Johns. 9. Additional Items - Building 10 The Coggin College of Business has hired a consultant to perform a quota analysis for space in building 10 to create a 140 station computer lab. The report has come back stating that only 70 can fit into the space and similar problems with the HVAC system exists as in Building 3.
