IMPORTANT NOTES
(1) This form has to be completed by students applying to read an ISM after a detailed discussion with their
supervisors.
(2) Students have to attach a write-up of the proposed study, following the format laid out in Appendix A.
(3) USP’s curriculum for Cohorts before 2012: Students are required to read a maximum of 4 USP
Advanced-Tier modules. These would comprise a combination of Pure ISMs, Ride-on ISMs and CBMs
limited to a maximum of 4.
(4) USP’s curriculum from Cohort 2012 onwards: Students take at least 1 and up to 3 ISMs in place of the
regular inquiry modules. Each ISM will be counted as equivalent to one inquiry module in the appropriate
basket. FoE students who are in the USP can only register for pure ISMs and cannot propose an ISM
Ride-on.
