Title Low cost, scalable and adaptable automated behavior testing device for drug discovery. (ECE-BME) Technical areas Control systems, data acquisition, sensors, microprocessors, behavioral models, experiment design using animal models, data analysis, image processing Customer’s Project Description This project involves the design of a microprocessor control and data acquisition / analysis system that is integrated into a behavioral training apparatus used in animal models for drug discovery. The core of the system will be a microprocessor based control system that will be programmed to receive inputs from various sensors, and to deliver outputs to motors, lights, sound to control the progress of behavioral events of freely moving live mice. A camera may be included in the sensor set. The design / selection of the microprocessor, sensors, motors, lights, etc will be the responsibility of the ECE team along with the overall operation and control of the system. The specific behavioral algorithms, data analysis, and overall design of the interface with the live mice (arenas, physical enclosures of the sensors and motors etc) will be the responsibility of the BME team.
