The Faculty Scholars Development Internal Grant provides funds up to $2,000.00 to support full-time faculty at all
levels of career development in scholarly and artistic activities related to their work at Otterbein University. Please
note: Funds are NOT available to solely PRESENT scholarly work. The High Impact Grant provides funds up to
$5,000.00 to support a full-time faculty member at any level of career development in the scholarly and artistic
activities related to their work at Otterbein University.

1. GRANT APPLICATION COVER SHEET.
2. NARRATIVE. 750 words maximum; field size will increase with typing. Describe your project, including a
statement of purpose. Please write your description for the reader/peer reviewer who may not be an
expert in your field or familiar with your previous work. Indicate if your project is a continuation of your

3. SCHOLARSHIP STATEMENT. Provide a link to your Departmental Scholarship Statement and indicate how
your project relates to your department’s and the university’s statements on scholarship. (Click below to

4. TIMELINE. Include a detailed timeline and itinerary for your project, even if your work will exceed the
period for the grant. (Click below to enter text; field size will increase with typing.)
5. METHODOLOGY, OUTCOMES, AND ASSESSMENT MEASURES. What methods will you use to conduct your
research/test your hypotheses? What are the expected results from your project? How will you
determine if your project has been successful? How will your project enhance your creativity,

6. BUDGET. Use the “Budget Form” to provide a detailed budget for all equipment, materials, and other
expenses. Please note that all expenses must be justified within the “Budget Narrative,” p. 2 of the

7. CURRICULUM VITAE. Attach a current, brief (2 page) curriculum vitae to your proposal.
The principal criteria used by the FSDC in evaluating proposals are:







Completion of all parts of the grant application.
The proposal's academic, artistic, and scholarly merit and relevance to the University’s and the
department’s scholarship statement.
The expertise of the faculty member(s) in relation to the project.
The ability of the faculty member(s) to carry out the project successfully.
The feasibility of the methods, outcomes, and assessment measures, and the timeline for the project.
The availability of relevant resources and research facilities.
The demonstrated need for funding to pursue the project.
All proposals must be submitted to fsdc@otterbein.edu by 5:00 p.m. on the deadline specified for each grant
Round. A final report on the funded project is due to fsdc@otterbein.edu by 5:00 p.m. on the date indicated on
the grant award letter. Failure to file a report may impact future funding by the FSDC.
If you are awarded on FSDC Internal Grant and are unable to use it for any reason, you must notify the current
Chair of the Committee immediately. Failure to do so may impact future funding.
