Hancock County Extension Council Meeting Minutes Monday November 16, 2009 7:00pm Extension Office Present: Dick Burling, Barbara & Tom Laffey, Pam Huston, Paul Mealiff, Michelle Merritt, Matt Raber, Patti Starr and Susan Starr Staff Members: Deb Pflasterer, Sheri Merry Absent: Vicki Eilers, Traci Harrell, Suzy Holtsclaw, Jordan Merritt and Terri Tobias The meeting was called to order by chairman, Dick Burling at 7:00pm. Paul Mealiff moved to accept the secretary minutes as written Michelle Merritt seconded the motion. The motion carried. The financial report was presented by Deb Pflasterer. She explained that salaries appeared less due to the Hazard Mitigation Program grant that was paying a portion of Deb and Kristen's salaries. Sheri Merry then reviewed her written report. She shared that there were 25 interested in 4H club from the fliers sent to the schools, and Federation will be having a cookie walk during the Christmas Open House. The Internet Safety Program was reported upon. She stated that the program and speaker were excellent. It reached 276 freshmen/sophomores and 366 7th and 8th graders. In the evening there were 24 adults that attended. Kristen Huls is working with Sheri Merry on Illinois Saves followup to Welcome to the Real World and continues to work with the hazard Mitigation program. A reminder was given to the council that the regional director would be here Dec. 7th. All are welcome to e-mail questions or attend the meeting. Deb shared that on campus there would be an extension administrative cut of 15%. Under new business Pam Huston moved that the office Christmas hours be as follows; Office closure during Christmas break will be December 24th through January 2 nd with the office reopening January 4th. The motion was seconded by Barbara Laffey. Motion carried. Sheri Merry passed out invitation to Deb's retirement open house to be held Dec. 18. A thank you was voiced to Paul Mealiff for his many years of service to the county. He will be going off of the council due to a move. Michelle Merritt made a motion for adjournment.
