Final Presentations During the last two weeks of school, students will take turns presenting a wide variety of social problems to the class. You may choose to present your topic in any way you’d like, however, it must be organized and easy to follow. Typically, Posters or PowerPoints are a suitable way to demonstrate information. You are more than welcome to use photos, video clips (under 1 minute), animation, art or other graphics to accompany your presentation. When presenting your topic, be sure you… -Define the social problem thoroughly and use examples -How does your social problem affect people’s lives (micro) and society in general (macro)? -Connect your social problem to the three sociological perspectives -Any data or information you use OUTSIDE your textbook needs to be cited. -Pick one of the following choices when presenting your topic. Present a lecture on any social problem of your choice that was NOT covered in class. Your topic MUST be preapproved. Your 8-10 minute lecture will demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the social problem, using “real-life” examples that speak to your students. Take any one of my lectures from class and present your alternative spin on it. Your 8-10 minute lecture must address views that I have not discussed. You will demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the social problem, using “real-life” examples that speak to your students. Use the rubric on the following page to see how each part of your presentation will be graded. When presenting your topic to the class, make sure you either save your PowerPoint or media cite to a USB drive OR bring in your own laptop with connecting cord to the class projector. It is also a good idea to email your project to yourself to have a back up. 1 Presentation Rubric Student: ______________________________________________________________________________________ Overall Score:___________________(Out of 40 Points) Presentation Portion: 1.
