Final Examination will be given June 3rd from 8:00 to 10:00 pm.
Your final course grade will be based on the following:
--In-class essays and assignments...................................................25 % of final grade
--Out of class homework ……………............................................25 % of final grade
--Class participation (i.e. group work and presentations)...............10 % of final grade
--Quizzes and Final examination….................................…...........40 % of final grade
Late assignments: All assignments will be lowered 2/3 grade for each class day they are
late. (Note: Late assignments will never be penalized below 70 %)
Student Learning Outcomes:
1) Upon completion of this course, students will produce writing that incorporates highbeginning grammatical structures.
2) Upon completion of this course, students will compose multi-sentence compositions of
100 words.
Student Learning Outcomes continued:
3) Upon completion of this course, students will read and comprehend elementary texts
and be able to identify the main idea of a paragraph.
4) Upon completion of this course, students will analyze and use vocabulary at a highbeginning level.
5) Upon completion of this course, students will comprehend informal English
conversation on a familiar topic.
6) Upon completion of this course, students will participate in a simple conversation on a
familiar topic.
The Learning Center
If you need help or feedback while you are working on your assignments, visit the
Learning Center, located on the first floor of the Library building. Tutors there will assist
you in many areas: writing, reading, research, and homework assignments.
At the completion of the course, students will …
1) improve in their ability to write in English,
2) improve in their ability to speak English,
3) have a greater understanding of English grammar,
4) have the ability to write a developed paragraph,
5) improve in their ability to comprehend the subject matter of native English
speakers,
6) increase their vocabulary substantially,
