It also considers models of intervention such as conflict management, resolution and transformation, and peace building. 3500– 4000 word assignment The module looks at the peacemaking and peacebuilding aspects of the Irish Peace Process, with particular attention to the national and international peacemaking dialogues that contributed to the Good Friday Agreement and subsequent steps in peacebuilding towards a shared society. It also looks at interest in the Irish Peace Process in the wider field of conflict studies, and what might be learnt from the Irish experience. 3500– 4000 word assignment This module involves a placement in a local social enterprise organisation in the peace-building, community relations field. Assessment details Develops a fuller, more complex, and more systematic interdisciplinary understanding of theoretical and practical approaches to the puzzle of reconciliation. It explores the key challenges in transforming personal, social and structural relationships that have been damaged or destroyed by conflict to show how ‘all the pieces matter’ if a reconciliation process is to have any prospective of success. 3500– 4000 word assignment These modules are only available to students who are doing the Semester in Northern Ireland programme in Belfast.
