Theory and Interventions in
Interpersonal Neurobiology
Course Description
This seminar will provide an overview of
Interpersonal Neurobiology theory, as well as
provide specific interventions aimed at increasing
neural integration and affect regulation. The focus
will be on assessment of neural integration,
identification of the domains of neural integration,
and embodied techniques aimed at allowing flexible,
modulated behavioral responses in clients with
disorders such as PTSD, addictions, eating and
mood disorders.

Explore the theoretical frameworks of
Attachment Theory and Interpersonal
Neurobiology.
Explore the current state of research surrounding
autonomic nervous system arousal and its effects
on both client functioning and the therapeutic
relationship.
Describe the window of tolerance and each of
the domains of neural integration as well as
embodied techniques aimed at increasing
flexible, modulated behavioral responses.
Christine Schneider, LCSW
Christine Schneider is Lead Therapist and Director
of Family Programming at Castlewood Treatment
Center. She is also an adjunct faculty member in the
BSSW, MSW and Department of Psychiatry and
Neurology at St. Louis University. She has a
Master’s Degree in Social Work from the George
Warren Brown School of Social Work, and is
currently a Doctoral Candidate in the Department of
Medical Family Therapy at St. Louis University.
Her specializations include Attachment Theory,
Interpersonal Neurobiology, Internal Family
Systems and EMDR. She works with clients with
trauma, dissociation, eating disorders, mood
disorders and addictions.
