What do I need to know as a 4-H parent of a 4-Her?
Meetings – 2nd Monday of the month from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm unless otherwise noted at Place A.
Expectations:
*First year member – enroll in project(s) by December 1, give a talk and a special
*Second year and up – enroll in project(s) by December, give a talk, demonstration and special
*Every family is scheduled to bring refreshments one time during the year.
*Attend 2/3 of the meetings.
*Give talks, demos and specials as scheduled if at all possible. Meetings are run on a time schedule. It is helpful if you are
prepared.
*When new project books and records are received please look through them immediately, as many require advance planning
in order to complete them successfully.
What is an Achievement Member?
An Achievement member has:
*met the minimum requirements for one project
*completed a project record
*given a local talk, special and/or demonstration as required
*completed with a project at a county show or had a project inspected by a leader
*attended 2/3 of the meetings held after enrolling
Demonstration:
Pick a topic of interest from one of our projects
Give name, age and years in 4-H
Give from notes: try not to read your presentation
Visuals are helpful if they are large enough for your audience to see
Talk so everyone can hear you
Include an opening, body and conclusion with a summary
Talk:
Pick a topic of interest that relates to one of your projects
Give name, age and years in 4-H
Talks are hand written, not read from a book
Organize with opening, body and a closing
(Keep it interesting!!!)
Special:
Any item of interest to you and others (ex. music, jokes, poems, songs, tricks)
