Electric Car Conversion – Hank w/ The Texas State Car Association
o They are looking for someone to donate money/materials for the project,
especially a car
 The car should be a 1970s-80s model because they’re easier to take
apart, and it should be light weight
 They found a 1978 Lotus – it uses less batteries and has a smaller
engine in the back instead of the front
o Want to convert a car from gas to electric and build an electric motor
o This type of project would show the legislature that we’re spending the
ESC money on new technologies
 We could take it to the quad for advertising





 It could be entered in contests/competitions
o The car would have a range of 100-150 mi per charge and would use solar
power to charge the battery (194 volt battery)
o The project has the full support/backing of the Engineering department
o The car would become university property
o The project needs to start ASAP
o The ESC needs a budget breakdown at the next meeting before we can
vote on whether to fund the project
SWIG Earth Day and Climate Change Awareness campaign – Daniel
o Want to make “Love your mother” t-shirts that include tips for reducing
your carbon footprint on the back
o Earth day is April 22 – in a couple weeks – need money before that to get
the shirts printed on time
o Want to reuse shirts from thrift stores for the campaign – they will need to
be washed before they can be printed – about $80 for washing
 Blue hanger, goodwill, other shops?
o Shirts would include the ESC graphic for advertisement
Vote: Motion to approve $2,755 for SWIG earth day shirts – Melody, 2nd
Giordano – Motion approved
Bobcat Build on Saturday April 5th – ESC will have a booth
