The current Sept 2008 specification has been extended until Sept 2012 and can still be taught in schools. The new resources material, published in the summer term 2011, has been written to match the assessment criteria given in the new September 2011 specification. Schools that have purchased the new resources will find that there are some discrepancies between the resources and the September 2008 specification they now have to teach. The resources have been evaluated and it has been determined that they are still fit for purpose. However customers should be made aware of some differences between content and the specification. Headlines Learning Outcomes and Assessment Criteria which are given at the start of each unit do not match the current specification. This applies to phrasing and order of content only. It does not affect the content of the unit e.g. Unit 4 Current specification Learning outcomes Assessment criteria 1 1.1 Evaluate a range of sources of employment available for job seekers 1.2 Select appropriate sources of job vacancies their for own purposes 1.3 Identify potential job roles from the appropriate source of employment Understand how to use potential job sources 2 Understand how their skills, interests and achievements might relate to potential job roles 2.1 Explain how own skills relate to potential job roles 3 Be able to investigate job vacancies 3.1 Search for potential job vacancies 3.2 Communicate with employers or the employer’s representative to obtain further information about job vacancies WorkSkills Workbook 1, unit 4, p1 Learning outcomes Assessment criteria 1 1.1 Explain the roles of different sources of information about jobs 1.2 Select appropriate source of information about job vacancies for own purposes 1.3 Identify potential job roles from sources of information about jobs 2.1 Explain how own skills relate to potential job roles 2.2 Explain own interests in relation to potential job roles 2.3 Explain how own achievements are relevant to potential job roles 2 3 Understand how to use sources of information about jobs Understand how to relate own skills, interests and achievements to potential job roles Be able to investigate job vacancies 3.1 Carry out investigations to identity potential job vacancies 3.2 Provide evidence of communication with employers or the employer’s representative to obtain further information about job vacancies The order of assessment criteria has been altered in some parts of the specification.
