The situation
 The new WorkSkills specification, for first teaching in September 2011, has been
accredited for teaching in FE but not as a pre-16 qualification.
 The current Sept 2008 specification has been extended until Sept 2012 and can still
be taught in schools.
 The new resources material, published in the summer term 2011, has been written to
match the assessment criteria given in the new September 2011 specification.
 Schools that have purchased the new resources will find that there are some
discrepancies between the resources and the September 2008 specification they now
have to teach.
 The resources have been evaluated and it has been determined that they are
still fit for purpose. However customers should be made aware of some differences
between content and the specification.
Headlines

Learning Outcomes and Assessment Criteria which are given at the start of each unit
do not match the current specification. This applies to phrasing and order of
content only. It does not affect the content of the unit e.g.

The order of assessment criteria has been altered in some parts of the specification. As a
result the order of activities in units 6, 7, 8 and 10 does not follow the order of the assessment
criteria. The worksheet can be completed out of order without implication for completion of
assessment criteria.
Replacement Worksheets
Unit 4. P3. Assessment asks learners to describe “advantages and disadvantages” of
sources of employment. Table is inconsistent, and learners are not asked specifically for
advantages and disadvantages of the approach. A replacement table has been provided.
Unit 6. P.41. Assessment guidance for 1.1. “The learner needs to suggest at least three
different types of interview questions which they could be asked by the interviewer, for
example questions about their past experience and skills”.
The type of question which learners are expected to suggest are already supplied in the table.
A replacements table has been provided with blank spaces for learners to complete.
P.43 to achieve 2.1 “learner needs to indentify four specific questions they think are most
likely to come up at the interview. The table on page 43 only contains space for two questions
A table with additional space is provided.
Unit 7. P58. Assessment 3.2 “Learner must identity at least two aspects of their performance
that went well”. This is not specifically asked for on the worksheet. Tutors should ensure
learners give at least two examples in the table provided.
