VOLUNTEER ROLE DESCRIPTION 4-H Cloverbud Organizational Leader Purpose: To provide leadership to the group, structure and operation of the group and be the primary contact person for the group with the Area and/or Unit Cloverbud Coordinator, Unit Extension Staff and the 4-H program. Success Criteria: The group goals are met. Members and leaders are informed of group and unit activities. The group activities provide the youth with an eclectic, cooperative, and fun approach to learning. Responsibilities: To see that the group is organized by arranging for the group to: • Set annual goals. • Meet regularly. • Recruit new members and recognize graduating members. • Apply for group recognition. • Conduct enrollment. • Plan the yearly program and activities. • Conduct group activities and events that are fun and cooperative through an immediate, positive feedback response to the youth's involvement in the activity. • Participate in community and unit events and programs. • Work with parents and activity leaders • Learn about the developmental needs of 5-7 year olds and apply that information to the choice and delivery of activities To provide a system for support of youth and adult volunteer leaders including: • Sharing the responsibilities among group families • Interviewing and completing volunteer screening procedures for all volunteers in the group who will have contact with youth. • Processing volunteer enrollments Time Required: 1 1/2 - 2 hour activity meetings (6 – 52 times, weekly or bi-weekly) Target Dates: September through August Resources Available: Cloverbud Program - Curriculum Instructional Materials - Ohio K-2 - The Ohio State University Extension Level I and II (Level II available in Spanish) Understanding Youth Ages Five to Seven A Valuable Partnership: Volunteer and 4-H Youth Program Youth Protection Procedures and Forms (Unit Management Handbook) 4-H Cloverbud Volunteer Video Training Opportunities: Unit, Regional, State, and North Central Regional trainings Report To: Unit Cloverbud Coordinator For Questions, Contact: Extension Unit Youth Staff _____________________________(Address) _____________________________(Phone) Date: 02/03
