Regreening of Oranges
Summer Valencia oranges sometimes look green and unripe, but don’t be
fooled.
They experience a phenomenon called “regreening”. The oranges turn
golden before fully ripened. As weather gets warmer and oranges ripen, they green
again starting at the stem end. Warm ground temperatures cause the greening
substance in plants to return to the peel. Regreened oranges are delicious.
