Business Law 1 credit – Full year course Fall 2014 & Spring 2015 2nd period 8:47 – 9:30 Room 148 Overview Evaluation Learn and apply the fundamental principles of law that involve an individual’s personal and occupational life. Students will explore legal issues pertaining to contract law, crimes, torts, warranties, agents, landlord/tenant, court procedures, contract law, and corporate law. This course offers the opportunity to earn three college credits through the ACE program at LIU CW Post University. Tests/Projects Classroom Work Goals At the end of the year, the student will achieve the following: Sources of Law and Ethics Crimes and Tort Law Court Systems and Trial Procedures Contract Law o Creation, termination and breach of contracts, elements of a contract, Statute of Fraud, Damages and remedies of contracts, Legality and capacity of minors and contracts. Consumer Law Commercial Paper Agency and Employment Law Business Entities. Requirements Students are expected to be present, prepared and participate every day. This entails having a pen or pencil, notebook/folder, and assignments due. Cell phones should be away throughout the entire class period. Attendance in this course is a must. Please familiarize yourself with the district attendance policy. 3 lates = 1 absence; up to 24 absences in a full year course, up to 12 absences in a semester course. It is your responsibility upon returning from being absent to find out what work they have missed and to make up the work within 2 days of your return. Respect the right of others, along with the equipment/furniture in the room. Effort goes a long way-always try your best! Participation is key…it is also 10% of your grade! Always do your own work. Complete all weekly homework assignments neatly and on time. Please stay seated until the bell rings. No food or drinks in computer lab.
