Classroom Rules:

 All students must be in class on time. That means

seated and doing the “Do Now” before the bell.

 All students must be prepared for class.

 There is NO eating or drinking in the classroom, that includes juice, candy and gum.

 One person speaks at a time. Be respectful of each other.

 Listen attentively and follow all directions given.

 All home work and class work is to be completed and turned in on time.

Assignments turned in late cannot earn full credit. The maximum grade will be a 75.

Being Prepared:

Students are expected to be prepared each day. Being prepared means that students must bring the following to class each day. Failure to be prepared will result in a zero for class work for the day and will adversely affect the student’s marking period grade.

Pens and pencils

– you should have at least 2 of each with you

3.

A supply of loose leaf. A single sheet or a couple of sheets is NOT sufficient!

An agenda or a separate location to record homework assignments

Tests and Quizzes:

Both tests and quizzes will be taken from notebook material as well as handouts and material found in the textbook. Please note that certain test and quiz questions will be taken from homework assignments.

Homework:

Homework is assigned on average 3-4 times a week or a single assignment that will need to be worked on 3-4 times a week. Assignments are posted at the beginning of a lesson on the screen and students are expected to copy the material into their agendas. Should a student be absent, the STUDENT is responsible for contacting me or another student to obtain any missing notes or assignments. Being absent does not excuse a student from an assignment .

Homework is posted on my website and copies can be printed from the site in the event you are absent or lose a handout from class.

Should it be necessary for you or your child to contact me, I can be reached using several methods. I am available before or after school, by telephone or by way of e-mail.

My e-mail address is MNadasky@sewanhaka.k12.ny.us. You may contact me at any time. Please put your child’s name or your name in the subject heading. I will not open any e-mail if I cannot identify the sender.

My website is Sewanhaka.k12.ny.us (under Elmont then Faculty then under

Nadasky.) On this site you will find all assignments as well as handouts that were distributed in class. These documents can be printed from your home computer.

You may reach me by telephone at (516) 488-9200. Please leave a message including your name and telephone number. Please let me know the best time and number at which to reach you.

I am available before school from 7 am to 7:30 and after school by appointment.

Please email me or call me so I will know you are coming so I can arrange a place to meet.

Parental contact will be made as needed.

Extra Help:

I am available before and after school for extra help. Please make an appointment to see me if there are questions on assignments or course material..

Homework 10% Tests 20%

Class work 40% Quizzes 10%

Projects 20%

Your final exam in worth 20% of your final grade in HCS and is reported separately on your report card.
