Studio Art
Studio in art is a comprehensive course that includes the study of elements and principles
of design, the role of art within our global cultures, and movements and trends in the art
world. Students develop abilities to express themselves through experiences in drawing,
painting and sculpture. Major movements of art will be introduced. Successful
completion of this course will satisfy the Art/Music graduation requirement for one unit
of credit.
Materials
1. A Sketchbook 8x10 spiral
2. A Pencil and eraser
3. 12 Pack of colored pencils
4. A hand sharpener
5. A pencil case (A Zip Lock bag will do)
Rules and Guidelines
Classroom rules:
 Students are expected to clean up all supplies used during class.
 Be respectful of everyone in the classroom.
Assignments:
 All assignments will have a due date, there will be few exception to this rule

If a student requires extra help or extended time with a project, it must be approved
by the teacher.(Cutters will be ineligible)
Grading policy:
 Participation: Students participation grade will be based on how well the students
maintain their notebook, sketchbook, critique, do now activities and punctuality. 15%

Classwork/Projects: Creative solutions will lead to successful projects. In art,
assignments are given to see what new and innovative ideas students can come up
with so you don’t have to be the best artist in the class. Having the best idea and
being creative is just as important. 60%

Homework/Paper/Research/Prepared: students will work in their book everyday.
All homework assignments will be checked every week. 10%

Test and Quizzes: Occasionally there will be a test or quiz. (Final not included) 15%
