My name is Steve Smith. I am currently a junior studying science research at H. Frank Carey High School.
I would like to acknowledge my desire to participate in the Professor for a Day event sponsored by Cold
Spring Harbor Laboratories. My interest in the sciences has been a motivation for me from an early age,
and an opportunity to share this motivation and interest with other future intellects gives me all the
more enthusiasm. My future plans to be employed in the medical field have also helped in sparking my
curiosity in this program. Science makes a positive impact on people’s lives. In many cases, Science saves
lives. Scientists use their expertise to develop real solutions for real problems. I love helping people, and
with the knowledge attained from entering and progressing through this program, I feel as though this
could greatly assist me as well as educate me more on the subjects that have long since fascinated me. I
hope you allow me the opportunity to attend this informative event.
