REPORT CARD GRADE POLICY GUIDELINES: Tests/Quizzes – 45% Essays/Projects – 45% Participation – 10% Throughout the marking period, seminars will take place in English and social studies. In order to receive the full ten points for participation, students must contribute during each discussion. REQUIREMENTS FOR CLASS: 1. Each student must have a loose-leaf binder with subject dividers and loose leaf paper. 2. It is assumed that students at this level will participate in class and complete all homework assignments. 3. All students will take the Advanced Placement Examinations (United States History and English Language and Composition) in May. Students in social studies AND English will also take the New York State Regents Examination in June. RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Each student is responsible for attending class daily unless excused by the health or attendance offices. 2. Students should be punctual to class daily, and prepared with a pen, pencil, notebook and textbook as stipulated by the teacher. 3. Extra help is available. Students should speak to the teacher to set up an appointment. 4. Students should display behaviors in class that are respectful of the teacher and other students, and accept consequences which will ensue if these responsibilities are not met. IMPORTANT POLICIES: 1. Work missed due to absence must be made up. It is the responsibility of each student to obtain and complete all missed class work, homework, assignments, quizzes and tests, and to see that they are completed in a timely manner as per board policy. Failure to complete assignments will result in a grade of 0. 2. Students may not do other work during class. Material will be confiscated and returned at the teacher’s discretion. 3. ANY WORK THAT HAS BEEN PLAGIARIZED WILL RECEIVE A GRADE OF 0.
