Consequences and Cheating Contract

Our hope is that all students will demonstrate honesty and integrity throughout their Senior Project. If a student is suspected of cheating, lying, forging documents, and/or exaggerating any portion of the Senior Project, consequences will be enforced as outlined below.

We define cheating as but not inclusive to:

*PLAGIARIZING (claiming someone else’s work as your own) any part of the Senior Project. In other words, “Plagiarism refers to the form of cheating that has been defined as ‘the false assumption of authorship: the wrongful act of taking the product of another person’s mind and presenting as one’s own’” (Lindey 2).

*ABDICATION OF RESPONSIBILITY - having other individuals write your papers or do other work for you. All work must be student’s own and original.

*LYING about and/or exaggerating the quality and/or quantity of the time spent working on the project phase or job experience

*Forging documents or signatures

If any of these should occur, consequences are outlined clearly in the

Student Handbook, and potentially, you would not present to the panel of judges because unethical behavior has severe consequences to our organization and the students. You may be required to give your presentation to a separate panel of judges FOLLOWING GRADUATION and after an acceptable Senior Project is completed. If you break this contract, the school reserves the right to remove you from commencement exercises and since

Senior Project is a graduation requirement, you may have to complete an entirely new Senior Project to acceptable standards. Provided the student passes the post-commencement board and the other graduation requirements have been satisfied, the student will be awarded his/her diploma. The

minimum classroom consequences are that you will receive a score of zero “0” for all affected documents, and receive a zero “0” on your portfolio.
