Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance Job Family and Level: Administrative, Professional & Managerial Level 4 Contract Status: Permanent Hours of Work: Part-time (21.75 hours per week) Location: ACT Offices, University Park Reporting to: Deborah Kitson Purpose of the New Role: The Safeguarding Adults at Risk Manager will have responsibility for reviewing and developing ACT services in relation to adults at risk and for identifying, planning and implementing new initiatives in line with current practice. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. Main Responsibilities % time per year To establish and co-ordinate services specifically designed to meet the needs of professionals working with adults at risk. To chair as required ACT’s national Safeguarding Network. To make contact and establish links with adult services nationally through ACT‘s current contacts and to advise members of the development of ACT services looking at safeguarding adults at risk. To work with the Development Officer to market new services. To represent the Trust and to contribute to regional and national consultations/working parties relating to the safeguarding of adults at risk as appropriate. To develop and deliver training designed to look at the needs of adults at risk and in line with current legislation. To collate detailed feedback from training commissioners and members to inform the planning stage for service development. To report to Director on progress and to review and evaluate the effectiveness of ACT adult services To substitute for the Director in her absence. To do all other tasks that each member of the ACT team is expected to contribute to including responding to telephone and e-mail enquiries, offering relevant information and contributing to team meetings and discussions 15% Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience Essential Qualifications/ Educated to degree level (or Education equivalent) 16% 12% 8% 18% 8% 8% 10% 5% Desirable Training/teaching qualification Other continuing professional Skills/Training Experience Relevant professional qualification Excellent communication and presentation skills Track record of developing and delivering training in a social care context Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload and work to tight deadlines Ability to collate and apply research data to practice initiatives Expert knowledge of adult safeguarding Ability to work as part of a team and independently PC literate in MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint An understanding of the sensitive nature of the Trust’s work Ability to manage a small staff team Significant vocational experience Experience of influencing strategic partners and stakeholders Project management Experience of working with adults at risk development qualifications An understanding of the issues relating to the abuse and protection of people with learning disabilities Co-ordinate and facilitate conference, training and other events Experience of creating databases Experience of completing tenders and funding applications Data analysis experience Decision Making i) taken independently by the role holder The post holder will be responsible for prioritising their workload, assessing training requirements across the statutory and voluntary sectors supporting adults at risk and providing advice and information to the sector on request. They will also on occasion be responsible for managing the staff team and therefore responsible for day to day decisions about the Trust’s business arm. ii) taken in collaboration with others The post holder will be working across all adult at risk services in the UK and will contribute to their consultations in relation to safeguarding adults at risk, developing strategies to ensure that policies and practice reflect safe practice and the national safeguarding agenda. iii) referred to the appropriate line manager by the role holder The post holder will meet regularly with the Director to assess progress and discuss future operational and strategic direction. Additional Information The post holder needs to be willing and able to travel within the UK including overnight stays. Page 2 of 2
