Deans’ Meeting Agenda August 26, 2014 1:00 – 3:00 pm 1. 3-day Search minimum duty days for summer searches Martin 2 days for committee members, 2.5 for chairs, funding provided by academic affairs. If more days are needed, can be requested by and paid for from the dean. 2. Faculty leave and sick day requests Colleen Discussed how to handle faculty sick day requests with the TLR system. If faculty call in to cancel on campus courses due to illness, please remind them of the need to submit leave through online system. Will need to make arrangements for chronic conditions. Do need to remind faculty of the new system and help with using it. 3. ARCC office space Attachment 1 Lynn Reviewed options presented to us from ARCC. We would like two faculty offices and a reception area. The space presented would not allow for this. Martin will bring this to Pres Hanson for further conversation. Also need to resolve issue with Program Inventory with MnSCU to make sure BSN program locations are posted, as well as the BUAD program at ARCC. 4. Open forums and topics Attachment 2 Martin Requested by the President. No set topics. Any advantage of submitting questions in advance? Ask for issues to be addressed? 5. Media Codes for courses Patrick / Lynn Question came up in reference to a couple of BUAD courses that are identified as web enhanced in the course note, but not in the media code. Need to have discussions with faculty about accurately identifying how the course will be delivered when it is set up. 6. Contractual issues regarding work hours, home campus, ‘being here’ etc Martin Decisions about how courses are delivered, home campus assignments, and course scheduling needs to be made as part of a conversation with the department and dean. Need to be deliberate about our intention to be a residential campus. 7. Hagg-Sauer update Patrick Discussion about what 10 million can build or renovate; how much space for offices and classrooms? Need to share the history and timeline about how this project developed as intro to the forum. 8. Assessment update Patrick Patrick plans to have an updated document to share by the end of the week. A number of departments have submitted info either during, prior to or after the assessment workshop last week. 9.
