By accepting this appointment, you agree to perform the responsibilities as specified by me, as
your Dean. Faculty hired to teach have no responsibility to Temple for research or scholarly
activity. You also agree to the “General Terms and Conditions of Non- Tenure Track Faculty
Appointment” in Attachment A and to the “Specific Terms and Conditions of Non-Tenure Track
Faculty Appointment” in Attachment B. This letter and these two attachments comprise the
entire terms and conditions of your faculty appointment and have not and may not be modified or
altered by any oral or written statement or representation unless such statement or representation
is confirmed in writing under the Dean, Provost and/or President’s signature.
If, as I hope, you find this offer to be satisfactory as presented, please indicate your acceptance
by signing, dating, and returning this letter to my office. This offer will remain open for 30 days
from the date of this letter. If we have not received your signed acceptance by that date, we will
assume that you have not accepted this offer. If you require any additional time to consider this
offer, please contact the Dean’s Office at the number listed above, which will confirm any
extension in writing.

EMPLOYMENT POLICIES
As a full-time faculty member at Temple University, the terms and conditions of your
employment are governed by Temple University’s applicable policies and procedures, including
any applicable collective bargaining agreement, official School or College policies, Employee
Manual, which is available on-line at http://www.temple.edu/hr/eemanual.pdf, and Boardapproved policies and procedures contained in the Temple University Faculty Handbook, which
is available on-line at http://policies.temple.edu, as may be modified by Temple University from
time to time.
PATENT AND INVENTION POLICY
As a full-time faculty member at Temple University, you agree to be bound and abide by the
terms of Temple University’s Invention and Patent Policy, which is available on-line at
http://policies.temple.edu. By signing the appointment letter you represent that you have
reviewed Temple University’s Patent and Invention Policy and agree to be bound by this policy,
as may be modified by Temple University from time to time.
In addition, you hereby assign to Temple University any and all intellectual property rights in any
inventions created by you during the period of your employment and emerging from any university
research or development activity, or from use of any university facilities or equipment
GETTING PAID AT TEMPLE
Temple’s regular method to pay all new hires is through direct deposit into a bank account at a
financial institution of your choice.
As a benefit to our employees, Temple University partners with PNC Bank to offer a free
checking or savings account when an employee is paid via direct deposit. If you are interested in
learning more about this benefit or want to open an account, PNC Bank representatives will be
available to assist you at New Employee orientation or you can visit any PNC Bank branch
including the branch office located at 1900 Liacouras Walk on Main Campus.

All new faculty are required to attend a Human Resources (HR) orientation in which they are
informed of relevant policies, procedures and resources. Enrollment in health and other benefits
occurs at the orientation. Temple’s New Hire Orientation is offered regularly from 8:30 a.m. to
1:00 p.m. The orientation includes a complimentary continental breakfast and lunch.
The Human Resources orientation is in addition to other orientations that may be offered by your
school or college or by the Provost’s office. Once you have signed and returned your
appointment letter please register for the New Hire Orientation, by contacting HRat (215-9262218).
HUMAN RESOURCES FORMS
If you have not already provided to the University an official academic transcript that reflects
your highest earned degree, you must also provide Human Resources with an official copy of
that transcript prior to beginning your employment.
If this is your initial appointment to the Temple University faculty, you are also required to
provide acceptable documentation to verify your eligibility to work in the United States as
defined by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). This information
must be provided no later than three business days of your date of hire. Temple University uses
an electronic process which enables you to complete the required new hire documents (Forms I9, W-4, Direct Deposit) prior to your date of hire. Within a few days of returning your signed
appointment letter you will receive an e-mail request from DocuSign asking for you to provide
Human Resources with your social security number and date of birth. This information is
required to initiate the new hire process. You will also receive a welcome e-mail from Human
Resources that outlines the remaining steps needed to complete the new hire process. Timely
completion will ensure a smooth transition to the university by providing you with access to
Temple University and its technology resources such as e-mail and Blackboard. If you do not
receive the welcome e-mail within a few days of returning your signed letter, please contact your
department. Upon arrival at the university, in order to receive your university ID card, please
bring the documents necessary to complete the I-9 to the Human Resources Department.
LICENSURE
By accepting this offer of appointment, you represent and warrant that you have not been, and
are not now, disciplined, suspended, disbarred, debarred or sanctioned by any federal, state or
licensing agency and that you agree to immediately disclose to your Dean if, at any time, you are

CRIMINAL BACKGROUND DISCLOSURE

You agree to disclose immediately to the Office of the Provost, if at any time you are
investigated by law enforcement authorities or subject to criminal prosecution by federal or state

COMPLIANCE
In the performance of their functions, faculty members have an obligation to avoid ethical, legal,
financial and other conflicts of interest to insure that their actions and outside activities do not
conflict with their primary employment responsibilities at the institution. Faculty members are
also expected to understand and be in compliance with applicable laws, University and
employment policies and regulations, including NCAA regulations for areas and departments in
which their essential functions cause them to interact with student athletes.
