TROY UNIVERSITY MASTER SYLLABUS SORRELL COLLEGE OF BUSINESS QM 3342 Introduction to Operations Research Prerequisites QM 2241. Description An introduction to quantitative techniques applicable to business and economics. Topics include decision analysis, mathematical programming, network analysis, and other process analysis. Prerequisite: QM 2241. Objectives On completion of the course, the student should be able to: 1. Apply decision analysis techniques to business decisions, including decision trees, decisionmaking without probabilities, and the analytic-hierarchy process. 2. Compute efficient resource allocations using mathematical programming and network analysis, including linear programming, integer programming, transportation and transshipment modeling, the assignment algorithm, and network modeling. 3. Analyze transient and steady-state processes, including Markov processes or queuing theory. Purpose To provide a basic knowledge of forecasting, planning, and efficiency-optimizing methods of conceptual planning for manufacturing, service, and logistics purposes.
