TROY UNIVERSITY MASTER SYLLABUS SORRELL COLLEGE OF BUSINESS FIN 6631 Global Financial Management Prerequisites Graduate Standing Description A comprehensive and advanced study of financial analysis, planning, and control techniques for a business entity with emphasis on corporations. Assessments: In addition to instructor discretion items such as exams and HW, this course requires students to complete a standardized assignment. Although not an absolute requirement, instructors are encouraged to give students some token points (5-10 points is recommended) for completing this assignment. Objectives On completion of the course, the student should be able to: 1. Identify the primary duties and responsibilities of financial managers. 2. Analyze the financial condition of a firm using financial-statement analysis, financial-ratio analysis, Du Pont analysis, common-size analysis, comparative analysis, and trend analysis. 3. Calculate financial values based on the concept of the time value of money. 4. Perform a financial forecasting analysis 5. Calculate the value and yield of corporate bonds, preferred stocks, and common stocks. 6. Evaluate financial assets and portfolios using fundamental analysis, modern portfolio theory, CAPM, and capital structure. 7. Calculate the weighted average cost of capital for a firm. 8. Calculate break-even points for quantity, price, total revenue, and operating income. 9. Describe the Black-Scholes option pricing model. 10. Apply managerial-finance strategies to business objectives in an apt scenario. 11. Analyze an investment proposal within a capital-budgeting framework.
