Dear Parents or Guardians, I would like to welcome your child to the 2015-2016 school year at T.L. Hanna High School! I am planning for this to be an interesting, challenging, and successful year. This year we will cover a wide variety of new topics and ideas. The class will take hard work, but as a class, and with your help, we will work together to ensure success. I have very high expectations and insist that every student perform to the best of his/her ability. If your student ever needs additional help, please have him/her see me immediately. I will hold a tutoring session every Wednesday afternoon from 3:50pm to 4:50pm. (Additional morning tutoring can be arranged upon student requests.) On Mondays and Thursdays, Power Hour tutoring is open to all students from 3:50pm to 4:50pm. See the class syllabus or the Power Hour flyer on my school webpage for more information. Monthly Class Calendars are provided each month via Google Calendar. Every student will have access to this calendar on his/her Chromebook, and it is posted on my school webpage. (I can print the calendar for any student who is unable to access the internet at home. It is the student’s responsibility to request a hard copy.)This calendar includes the daily topics, notes, homework assignments, quiz dates, test dates. Please know these calendars are subject to change at any time, and I will notify the students of changes immediately. Please check your student’s grades in PowerSchool so that you are aware and up-to-date with how they are performing at all times. Please feel free to contact me at any point regarding your child's progress or if you have any questions or concerns. Email is the most efficient means of contact for me. With this said, to help me best communicate with you, I will be utilizing email distribution lists and Remind 101! These resources will allow me to notify you of upcoming quizzes, tests, and project due dates. Also, it will allow me to provide you with important school information or updates. The back of this sheet and my school webpage have information on subscribing to Remind 101. I look forward to how we can use this to help your student succeed! Please complete the “Parent Information Survey” in order to provide me with your most recent and most efficient email address(es). If you do not have email and need to contact me, please call the school and leave a message. I will return your call as soon as possible. All of the information is for me to use to better teach your child and remain in contact with you. While doing this, please ask your child to show you the syllabus for my class. The syllabus has some very important information on it for you and your student. Along with my syllabus, it is essential that you review the Student Handbook with your child. They are required to take a “Handbook Test” this year and score a perfect 100. This letter is for you to keep so that you will have my contact information and tutoring information.
