Third Grade Reading Log Dear Parents/Guardians, It’s time to start our reading logs. Reading is an important part of your child’s everyday life. Research shows that 20 minutes of reading each day helps with fluency, comprehension, and other literacy related skills. Each day your child will bring home his/her reading log folder to complete at home. Your child is required to read 40 pages each week and record his/her book(s) of choice and pages read. You will find a place on the log to initial that your child did their weekly reading. At the end of each week we will collect reading logs to make sure students are reading at home and have 40 pages of reading. Students will be given a test grade at the end of the nine weeks for his /her participation and weekly completion. Grade deductions will be made for pages not completed. Along with reading logs, your child will also be required to complete one book project each nine weeks. The project list sheet has been attached and your child can choose which book he/she would like to complete their project on. This is a self paced project. We have listed each nine week deadline on the book project sheet for you. This project will count as a reading test grade. By doing these projects, it is our hope that your child will see the value in reading books for enjoyment! Please let us know if you have any questions regarding your child’s reading log.
