THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE A FULL-TIME ON THE JOB
SUPERVISOR/COORDINATOR AT ALL TIMES DURING THE COURSE OF WORK.
ALL PAINTED SURFACES ARE TO BE TREATED AS POSITIVE FOR LEAD CONTAINING
PAINT DUE TO THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE BUILDING PRIOR TO 1978. FEDERAL,
STATE, LOCAL AND OSHA REQUIREMENTS ARE TO BE STRICTLY ADHERED TO FOR ALL
LEAD REMOVAL. CONTRACTOR SHALL WRAP LEAD WASTE IN 6-MIL PLASTIC AND
DISPOSE OF IN OWNER SUPPLIED LEAD DUMPSTER. OWNER SHALL DISPOSE OF LEAD
WASTE.
3.
FOR BIDDING PURPOSES, ASSUME EPOXY, DUTCHMEN, CRACKS AND CHECK FILLING
REPAIRS FOR ALL BALUSTERS WITHIN THE BALUSTRADE SYSTEM AROUND THE ENTIRE
ROOF PERIMETER. PRIME & PAINT UPON COMPLETION OF ALL PREP AND REPAIR WORK.
2.
ALL CONTRACTOR PERSONNEL WORKING ON THE PROJECT SHALL BE CERTIFIED BY
THE U.S. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY (EPA) FOR LEAD BASED PAINT
ACTIVITIES.
4.
FOR BIDDING PURPOSES, ASSUME THE REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT OF ALL FRONT
FACE PANELS WITHIN THE BALUSTRADE SYSTEM AROUND THE ENTIRE ROOF
PERIMETER, INCLUDING THE FACE PANELS AT ALL FOUR CORNERS. REPLACE WITH
EXTERIOR GRADE PLYWOOD TO MATCH EXISTING PANEL THICKNESS. MATCH ALL
EXISTING FACE PANEL DETAILS. PROVIDE NEW BLOCKING WITHIN THE EXISTING
BALUSTRADE SYSTEM TO ALLOW FOR PROPER FASTENING. SIX SIDE PRIME & PAINT
PANELS PRIOR TO INSTALLING.
3.
CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE CURRENT BLOOD TEST RESULTS FOR ALL EMPLOYEES
WORKING ON WESLEYAN PROPERTIES BEFORE THE START OF ANY WORK. MONTHLY
REPORTS SHALL BE PROVIDED THEREAFTER AND ALSO UPON COMPLETION OF THE
PROJECT. SEE SECTION 01015.
THE BUILDING WILL BE OCCUPIED AT ALL TIMES DURING CONSTRUCTION.
CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE A WORK SCHEDULE TO THE OWNER WEEKLY TO
COORDINATE ALL WORK.
2.
CONTRACTOR SHALL ERECT SCAFFOLDING TO PROVIDE SAFE AND SECURE ACCESS
TO THE WORK AREAS. MAINTAIN ACCESS TO ALL EGRESS DOORS AT ALL TIMES.
PROVIDE SIGNAGE, BARRICADES AND CAUTION TAPE TO DIRECT PEDESTRIAN
TRAFFIC INTO AND OUT OF THE BUILDING.
6.
CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN THE EXISTING VERTICAL PANEL WOOD STRIPS ON THE
BACK SIDE OF THE ENTIRE PERIMETER BALUSTRADE SYSTEM. SCRAPE, PRIME & PAINT.
7.
FOR BIDDING PURPOSES, ASSUME THE REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT OF 35 COPPER
COPING JOINTS ALONG THE ENTIRE BALUSTRADE COPING COVER PER THE TYPICAL
COPING JOINT COVER DETAIL.

UPON COMPLETION OF ALL PREP WORK AND REPAIRS, CONTRACTOR SHALL PRIME AND
PAINT THE EXISTING BALUSTRADE SYSTEM AND COPPER COPING CAP – TYPICAL FOR
ENTIRE BUILDING PERIMETER.
CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT SCAFFOLDING SHOP DRAWINGS TO OWNER FOR
REVIEW AND APPROVAL. DRAWINGS SHALL BE STAMPED BY A LICENSED
PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER.
4.
CONTRACTOR SHALL PROTECT EXISTING EPDM MEMBRANE AND SLATE ROOF DURING
CONSTRUCTION. CONTRACTOR SHALL ALSO PROTECT BALLAST ROOF WHEN
WORKING ON SOUTH SIDE OF BUILDING.
5.
CONTRACTOR SHALL CONTAIN LEAD DEBRIS AND DUST IN ACCORDANCE WITH ALL
REQUIRED FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL LEAD SAFE PRACTICE REQUIREMENTS.
CONTRACTOR SHALL USE WET METHODS TO REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF DUST
GENERATED. CONTRACTOR SHALL ALSO NOTE THAT WINDOW AIR CONDITIONING
UNITS BELOW WORK AREAS WILL BE OPERATING THROUGHOUT THE DURATION OF
THE PROJECT AND THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ENSURE THAT NO LEAD DUST OR
DEBRIS FALL INTO THE AIR CONDITIONING INTAKES. COMPLETE CONTAINMENT
WITHIN THE WORK AREAS IS REQUIRED.
6.
CONTRACTOR SHALL PROTECT EXTERIOR BUILDING FACADE FROM DAMAGE FOR THE
DURATION OF THE PROJECT. CONTRACTOR SHALL UTILIZE PROTECTIVE COVERINGS.
7.
CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE THE USE OF MOTORIZED LIFTS AND/OR HEAVY
EQUIPMENT WITH THE OWNER. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROTECT EXISTING TURF,
CONCRETE WALKS AND PAVEMENT AS REQUIRED. DAMAGED TURF, CONCRETE
WALKS AND PAVEMENT SHALL BE REPAIRED BY THE CONTRACTOR AT NO COST TO
THE OWNER.

CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE A CONTINUOUS COPPER CLEAT TO SECURE THE
EXISTING FLASHING ALONG THE BASE OF THE PERIMETER BALUSTRADE SYSTEM.
EMBED IN SILICONE SEALANT ALONG THE ENTIRE BALUSTRADE SYSTEM LENGTH (SEE
PARTIAL WALL SECTION DETAIL).

CONTRACTOR SHALL PREP, PRIME AND PAINT THE EXISTING SOFFIT, CORNICE AND
FRIEZE BOARDS AROUND THE ENTIRE PERIMETER OF BUILDING. CAULK BETWEEN THE
TOP OF THE LIMESTONE PILASTER AND BOTTOM OF CORNICE FREEZE BOARD AT EACH
CORNER OF THE BUILDING.
11.
CONTRACTOR SHALL PREP, PRIME AND PAINT ALL ARCHED WINDOW DORMER TRIM.
ALSO, PREP AND PAINT WINDOW SASHES AND MUNTINS. SPOT GLAZE IF REQUIRED.
12.
CONTRACTOR SHALL REMOVE ALL DEBRIS WITHIN THE EXISTING BUILT-IN GUTTERS.
1.
ADD/ALTERNATE 1: PROVIDE MATERIAL AND LABOR COSTS FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF
PERIMETER RUBBER ROOFING THAT TRANSITIONS INTO BUILT-IN GUTTER, METAL
FLASHING AND 2 COURSES OF SLATE ROOFING.
