UW-GREEN BAY RESEARCH COUNCIL SPRING 2016 Call for Proposals: Grants in Aid of Research The Research Council invites members of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay faculty to submit proposals for Grants in Aid of Research. The funds must be used in support of faculty research. The number of applications received and the amount of funding available for distribution will determine the number of awards that can be made. Anyone with faculty status at UWGB is eligible to apply for Grants in Aid of Research funding. While all proposals will be considered, preference will be given to tenure track faculty and those individuals who have not received funding recently. A. Proposals may include requests for up to $900 for data and/or materials collection for research, exhibition, or performance projects, including necessary supplies and materials such as: Purchase/rental of equipment Database searches Copying costs Assistance (data collection/analysis, fabrication) Travel associated with research and data collection Stipends paid to faculty are ineligible B. Proposals for travel to a conference at which the faculty member has been invited or selected to give a scholarly presentation will also be accepted. Proposals may include requests for up to $900 for this purpose. Faculty members requesting these funds would be delivering an accepted paper or presentation. Please provide an abstract from your presentation proposal and proof of presentation acceptance/invitation. C. If a faculty member has incurred expenses related to A. or B. above and paid these expenses from their personal funds (not department funds), she or he can submit a proposal to be reimbursed for up to $900. Expenses must be incurred between Monday, October 19, 2015 and Monday, March 21, 2016. Only expenses that follow campus purchasing and travel policies will be considered. If the proposal is approved, only expenses for which a valid receipt is submitted will be reimbursed. Proposals combining more than one category above (e.g., A and B) will not be accepted. Separate proposals are needed. Guidelines Proposals must include: 1. A completed cover page (available at www.uwgb.edu/rc/files/docs/GIARcover.doc). 2. A double-spaced narrative (1-3 pages in length) stating the significance of the project to the faculty member’s program of research including a rationale of the need for the proposed travel/materials. 3. An itemized budget (page limit: 1) using the template provided at www.uwgb.edu/rc/files/docs/GIARbudget.doc. All expenses should follow campus purchasing and travel policies found at www.uwgb.edu/purchasing/policies/index.htm and www.uwgb.edu/controller/travel. An accurate, itemized budget is required as well as a detailed budget narrative. For A. and B. above, if project costs exceed the allowable funding, describe how the balance of the funds will be acquired to meet the project/travel needs. 4. A vitae (page limit: 2) limited to relevant scholarly work. Proposals will be evaluated based on these criteria: The degree to which the proposal addresses all requirements of the application; The degree to which the proposal describes a clearly defined, substantive scholarly project; The perceived quality of the proposed project and tangible outcome; The degree to which the proposal places the project within a larger professional context (i.e., demonstrates the significance of the project) and incorporates professional literature from the field (as appropriate); The extent to which the project would contribute to the individual’s professional development and is part of a coherent, continuous program of scholarship. Awarded funds must be spent by Friday, February 24, 2017. A final report describing how the funds were used must be submitted to the Research Council no later than December 31, 2017. Non-compliance of final report submission will result in ineligibility for future Research Council funding. Only Electronic Submissions will be accepted.
