Web Accessibility (ATI) Training is Here!
The Web Accessibility Working Group of the CSULA Accessible Technology Initiative (ATI) and
Information Technology Services (ITS) are pleased to announce the following workshops:
ATI Awareness Workshop
All University personnel, including faculty and student assistants who either create material
that is placed on the University website or maintain a University website should attend. We
encourage other University members who are interested in learning about web accessibility
and the CSU Accessible Technology Initiative (ATI) to attend this informative workshop.
The workshop provides a general awareness of the CSU Accessible Technology Initiative
(ATI), information regarding legal requirements, as well as information on additional online
and on-campus resources. It also includes an activity that allows participants to experience
first-hand the navigation through a website from the perspective of someone with a disability.
Target Audience: Any CSULA members who are interested in learning about accessible
technology.
Duration: 90 minutes
Location: ITS Computer Training Lab, Library Palmer Wing, 4th fl., room 4056 (LPW 4056)
Workshop dates and times:
Tuesday, July 15, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The following hands-on workshop is designed for all web authors, including faculty, staff and
student assistants who either create material that is placed on the University website or
maintain a University website. Basic knowledge in HTML and website development is required.
Manual Web Accessibility Checks
Topics covered in this workshop include manually performing accessibility checks that cannot
be tested with software, accessible hyperlinks, the proper use of styles and headings, color
contrast and visibility issues, page navigation, and HTML and CSS validation among others.
Target Audience: Web authors who either create or maintain University websites.
Prerequisites:
1. Basic knowledge in HTML and website development
2. Previous ATI Awareness Workshop attendance is highly encouraged
Duration: 90 minutes
