Smart Coasts = Sustainable Communities Summer Vacation Studentships 2012 Water quality is a major concern when managing a beach, as different sources of pollution can impact directly on the local community, environment and economy. The aim of the Smart Coasts = Sustainable Communities project is to develop a real-time model to predict bathing water quality based on environmental parameters and faecal indicator bacteria (see www.smartcoasts.eu). The Smart Coasts = Sustainable Communities (SCSC) team invites applications for a limited number of awards to undergraduate students, to work within the project during the summer months. These studentships provide undergraduate students with an opportunity to experience research in the field and in the laboratory. In addition, your contribution to this project will provide significant benefits to the development of the real-time model. These studentships require a full-time commitment for either 6 weeks (period 1 or 2) or 12 weeks (both period 1 and 2). Period 1: 1st June – 13th July; Period 2: 16th July24th August.
