WE SHALL REMAIN: PBS’ AMERICAN EXPERIENCE
presents: “We Shall Remain”
Beginning Monday, April 13, at 8:00 pm
This five-part series spans 300 years to tell the story of pivotal moments in U.S.
history from the Native American perspective. It begins in the 1600s with the
Wampanoags, who used their alliance with the English to strengthen their position in
Southern New England. And it ends with the bold new leaders of the 1970s, who
harnessed the momentum of the Civil Rights Movement to forge a pan-Indian identity.
WE SHALL REMAIN: AMERICAN EXPERIENCE challenges the two-dimensional
stereotypes of American Indians as ferocious warriors or peaceable lovers of the land.
This ground-breaking mini-series represents an unprecedented collaboration between
Native and non-Native filmmakers (from Chris Eyre to Ric Burns) and involved Native
advisors and scholars at all levels of the project. Benjamin Bratt narrates.

discussion questions, plus activities designed to foster student
understanding of the important themes and issues that make
Native history an essential part of American history.

Be aware of RTI…
Response to Intervention (RTI) is a new and highly-effective approach to help identify students at
risk for learning disabilities and work with all students to ensure their educational success.
Response to intervention integrates assessment and intervention within a multi-level prevention
system to maximize student achievement and to reduce behavior problems.
With RTI, schools identify students at risk for poor learning outcomes, monitor student progress,
provide evidence-based interventions and adjust the intensity and nature of those interventions
depending on a student’s responsiveness, and identify students with learning disabilities.

BrainPOP wants to help students build financial literacy skills
and come to a better understanding of what they're hearing
about in the news with their Spotlight: Financial Literacy -it's free throughout April, which is Financial Literacy Month.
“The Spotlight includes new movies on banking, mortgages, and more. You'll
also find content covering everything from the stock market and taxes to
comparing prices and credit cards. The featured quiz ("Mortgages") and all
related Activity Pages are free as well.
The goal of our Spotlight: Financial Literacy is
to help get parents, teachers, and students
alike talking about
healthy financial habits. To
that end, we invite you to share
the Spotlight's
movies on your curriculum website. You can do
that by adding our Financial Literacy Movie
Player. Once embedded, the player will
automatically rotate one of BrainPOP’s Spotlight
movies each day in April. Starting in May, it will
take viewers to BrainPOP’s permanent Financial
Literacy unit.
