Information Literacy – Recommendations were to 1) create online learning
modules, 2) consider a non-credit class, 3) include a workshop into the freshman
experience program for Basic Skills, 4) incorporate training into the registration
process.. The council feels these skills should be learned and the repetition of these
skills infused throughout the campus. Forming a workgroup was suggested to get
learning modules recommendations up and running. Requesting SPPF funds for
resources and creation of materials was suggested.
Creative and Critical Thinking – consider re-writing our outcome and dividing it into
two separate outcomes.. Include different departments in the process when revisiting the ILO.
General GE/ILO Assessment Recommendations - Consider streamlining the ILOs to
the Golden Four/WASC common core – specifically spell out what the Golden
Four\WASC Common Core includes. (Written Communication, Oral Communication,
Critical Thinking, Quantitative Skills, Information Literacy). Will continue this
conversation at the next LOC meeting.
Meeting was adjourned at 3:47pm.
