Storage Devices (System resources):
-System resources are the parts within a computer that are
available to be used by the operating system and other
applications.
- Example :
Memory , other storage devices.
System resources Trouble:
- Memory leaks and solution.
- Other storage devices problem and solution.
System resources Trouble:
1- Memory leak :
- When you use the computer some times an error
message appears “low resource”.
- Any message appear mean trouble starts.
System resources Trouble:
The reason :
1- When you have several windows open on the screen or when
you run a lot of programs.
- The resource get low, some program may not able to run.
Solution:
1- close a few program and try again.
2- some times you need to restart your PC.
** What happen and make your computer run?

2- some times some program dead in memory, windows
can not remove it, the program continue to use a
memory and can not be stopped.
Solution:
- Kill the program or restart the computer.
Kill the program : using the windows task manager(list of
running program and processing).
- open Task Manager by pressing Ctrl+Shift+Esc

Hard Disk:
- Where your OS and application lives and where your all
work live.

Hard Disk failure warning signs.

Disk trouble or errors mean that, potentially , you may
loss your data.
- HD let you know well before die or stop by sending error
messages or several signs.
System resources Trouble:
First sign : an increasing number of errors and bad sector.
Second sign: disk access becomes sluggish.
Third sign: The drive becomes load and load also noise may
be over time.
* A sector is the smallest physical storage unit on a disk, and is almost
always 512 bytes (0.5 kB) in size.

What should you do when you suspect trouble?
- Immediately you should back up your data.
HD trouble (physically):
1- problem in cables.
Data cable , power cable (not connect or not work
properly).
Solution:
- Check data cable & power cable , connect it, if wasn’t
work change it.

Logical trouble:
- Bad sector trouble.
- One or more tracks have problems, so you may loss the
data or files not open.
** Why did bad sector appear in the hard disk drive?
- Hit or drop down the HD.
- Improper shutdown of Windows
- Defects of the hard disk
- poor quality or aging hardware
- Malware.
HW or SW problems:
HW problems:
HW problems always happen suddenly, but SW usually
many times makes error massages.

** Example :
-- when a printer breaks, it stop working.
-It’s HW problem.
-- but if cannot print when it light on and may print from
another program or only print test page.
- It’s SW problem.
A printer:
Definition :
- is an output device that prints paper documents. This
includes text documents, images, or a combination of
both.
The two most common types of printers are inkjet and
laser printers.
- Inkjet printers are commonly used by consumers, while
laser printers are a typical choice for businesses.
- Dot matrix printers, which have become rare, are still
used for basic text printing.

A printer:
The four printer qualities of most interest to most users are:
1- Color:
Color is important for users who need to print pages for
presentations or maps and other pages where color is part of the
information.
2- Resolution:
Printer resolution is usually measured in dots per inch ( dpi ).
3- Speed:
If you do much printing, the speed of the printer becomes important.
4- Memory:
Most printers come with a small amount of memory (for example, one
megabyte ) that can be expanded by the user.
A printer:
- Some items to consider when you troubleshoot a
malfunctioning printer are:
1- Paper faults.
2- Toner cartridges or ink ribbon.
3- Mechanical parts.
4- Cabling.
5- Application software configuration.
HW can fails by two reason:
1- Electronically:
-HW is cheap and bad.
- Assembled.
-Electronic fail usually happens early with one month of
purchased.
2- Physically:
- Usually happens when computer moves, HD,
motherboard, data cable or any input devices.
- HD give warning message.
HW or SW problems:
SW problem:
- It is more commonly because:
- SW does every thing in a computer.
- Most SW has unknown bug in it.
- SW developer not tests programs in all possible
configurations. So tracking the problem can be tough.
** one program doesn’t work  it is SW problem.
Before you do anything ask your self those
questions:
- Have you install any new HW recently?
- Have you install any new SW recently?
- Especially if your PC with a lot of SW installed, adding
some thing new, may be that guides your PC to fail or
stop..
The problem

message appear
(“non-system disk”)

we should change it.

connect it if doesn’t

- if the data cable doesn’t
work we should change it.

- This Mean an OS not
found , so I will install a
new operating system.
