Math 171

Project

Due date: Monday, June 7 th , in my e-mail inbox before 11:30 am.

Projects arriving after 11:30 am will be late and will not be accepted.

A project that is one minute late is late. A project that is one second late is late.

Points: 100

People: You must do this project individually. No group work

– or work that looks like group work – will be accepted.

The idea: The internet has many resources that can help you explain and demonstrate concepts for your students. Some of the sites are more valuable than others. Your assignment is to find five websites that you would use to help students understand or appreciate five different topics we have covered this quarter.

What to Turn In: One e-mail containing the results of your search: five different links and a brief analysis of the strengths of each site you include. Do not attach a separate document. Make sure the e-mail contains your full name.

The Instructions:

1. Choose five topics that we have studied this quarter that you might teach your students in the future. If you have trouble remembering all the topics we have studied, you can review the titles of the sections and subsections we have covered in Chapters 7 through 10.

2. Write a brief (25 to 50 words) paragraph explaining why you chose the topics you did.

3. Find one good website for each of the five topics you chose. You must have five different websites, that is five different words before the .com,

.org, .edu, etc.

4. For each link you find: a) Copy the link into the e-mail. b) Write a brief description of the strengths of the site. c) Remember that you want your students to be able to do more than just remember formulas and definitions. A good website gives students the chance to understand, interpret, apply, and create.

Grading

Ten percent of your grade will be based on correct use of written English.
