Pacific Lutheran University – Foreign Language Entrance Language Requirement Recent High School Graduates: Two years of one foreign language in high school, with an average grade of C or higher, or one year at the college level or demonstrated equivalent proficiency. Courses in American Sign Language may fulfill this requirement. Students who have not satisfied the language requirement may still be admitted but must make up the deficiency as an additional degree requirement. Transfer Students with less than 30 semester hours (45 quarter credits): Two years of one foreign language in high school, with an average grade of C or higher, or one year at the college level or demonstrated equivalent proficiency. Pacific Lutheran University – Foreign Language College of Arts & Sciences Requirement Candidates for degrees from the College of Arts and Sciences (B.A., B.S.) must meet Option I, II, or III below. Candidates for the B.A. with a major in English, for the B.A. in global studies, and for election to the Areté Society must meet Option I. Candidates for a B.A. with majors in music, or religion must meet Option I or II of the College of Arts and Sciences foreign language requirement. OPTION I: (can be met three different ways) ____ 201 & ____ 202 of any foreign language, or ____ 4 years of foreign language study in high school with a C or better in your courses, or ____ being bilingual (either you are an international student or you can provide documentation verifying your fluency in a language other than English) OR OPTION II: ____ 101 & ____ 102 of a language you have never studied before.
