(Insert appropriate Chamber name) with the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chambers’ Eco-Efficiency Survey 2003/04 Commonwealth Government Statistical Clearing House Approval No. 01165—01 Dear Member, I am writing to invite you to participate in the second [insert appropriate chamber name] Eco-Efficiency Survey. This survey is being conducted nationally in collaboration with the other State and Territory Members of the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Depending on the size and complexity of your business, the survey should take 5 to 20 minutes to complete. Eco-Efficiency = doing more with less = cost savings to your business. It means using fewer resources to make or deliver more output. This survey attempts to measure your business’ eco-efficiency performance. As well as measuring your business’ performance, the survey asks your views on various environmental issues and how they affect your business. Confidentiality Once you fill this survey in and return to [insert appropriate chamber name] the data will be aggregated with all other businesses that respond. Under no circumstances will your survey form or any identifying material be provided to any GovernmentAgency. Once the data is aggregated by [insert appropriate chamber name] the last page which identifies your business will be removed. Please return your completed survey to [insert appropriate person at the Chamber and contact details] by XX DECEMBER 2003 Eco-Efficiency Survey 2003/04 STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL The purpose of the survey This survey attempts to gain a ‘snap-shot’ of the eco-efficiency of Australian industry. Results of this survey will build upon the findings of the Chambers’ Eco-Efficiency Survey 2002/03 (report can be accessed via http://www.acci.asn.au/index_publications.htm). At least one more survey will be undertaken in 2004/05. The surveys will also provide time-series data on eco-efficiency in industry. This information will also help Government agencies plan programs to assist industry in becoming more efficient. The survey is part of an Eco-Efficiency Agreement that [insert appropriate chamber name] signed with Environment Australia in July 2001. While this survey is of course voluntary, [insert appropriate chamber name] believes that your business will benefit from participation by identifying strengths and weaknesses in key environmental areas. Also the aggregated data that will be provided back to you as a participant will give you vital material for benchmarking your performance and helping you to become more competitive. Order eco-efficiency information material from your Chamber (see last page of survey) to find out how to increase your profits from eco-efficiency. How the data will be used and what you will get from participating The data will be published in aggregate form and as a respondent in the survey a copy of the report will be forwarded to you to allow you to compare your business performance with industry benchmarks. Help available If you need any help in filling out the survey, feel free to contact [insert appropriate person at the Chamber and contact details].
