Liberal Studies Degree Plan
This form should summarize the content of your Learning Strategy paper. Please make sure that you list the same courses on each of the two documents.
This form is designed to help you track your progress each semester. By keeping it up-to-date, you will have a clear understanding that you are prepared for LIS 451 (which you
will take in your final semester) and you will be able to document this preparedness to your advisor. As you complete courses, place an X in the ‘completed’ column.
If you decide to make changes to your original plan, you should: 1) place an X in the ‘deleted’ column of the class you will not complete, 2) add a new course entry for the course
you will complete instead and place an X in the ‘added’ column, 3) complete the Degree Plan Revision form for each change. You should keep a copy of the Degree Plan Revision
form and send a copy to your advisor.
General Instructions (see LIS Program Handbook for further details):

You should list 10 hours of Liberal Studies program requirements in the yellow rows.

You should list 13 hours of ECCE courses in the blue rows.

If you need to complete General Education requirements, please place an X in the green column so that we can confirm that you are meeting your need.

Your degree plan and Learning Strategy must include at least 60 junior/senior level hours. If you entered UIS with fewer than 60 transfer hours, you must include
additional hours to account for the full 120 hours of the degree. If you are unsure of how many hours you must include or of any requirements that you must meet, contact
the LIS Program Coordinator.

For each class, place an X in the column of the Boyer category that most represents the content of that class. If your instructor allows you to list two Boyer categories for
each course, use an X to represent the primary Boyer category and an O to represent the secondary Boyer category.
When you have completed the degree plan, please read the following statement carefully and sign the document.
I have assessed my past college-level learning and have designed a plan of study which will integrate the goals and objectives of a well rounded
baccalaureate degree. I realize that this is just a plan and that I may deviate from this plan with the consultation of my academic advisor. I also realize
that my final transcript may not reflect this plan precisely, but that it must still retain a thoughtful balance of courses from across the liberal arts and
that failure to do so may affect my ability to graduate.
