OLD BUSINESS
1. Approval of the minutes of the December 1, 2006

2. Report from the Chair.
 Request approval to change the scheduled Congress meeting from Friday,
February 23 to Friday, February 16, 2007. (The BOR is meeting on 2/23 in
Kona). Reminder: Congress is scheduled to meet on 3/23/07, 4/27/07, and on
5/11/07. Elections will be held for officers on 5/11/07 for the next year. so
please elect your Senate Chairs by this date!.
 Report on the ACCFSC meeting held on 1/12/07 and other meetings
attended on behalf of Congress.
 Report on General Education Survey administered by the Congress
Executive Committee.
3. Reports from committee chairs:
 Kelly Burke, Academic Policy Committee. Report from the Chair on the status
of University 101.
 Gail Makuakane-Lundin, Admissions Committee. Report from the Chair.
 Barbara Leonard, Budget Committee. Report from the Budget Committee.

 Sevki Erdogan, Assessment Support Committee. Report from the Chair.
 Philippe Binder, General Education Committee. Report from the Chair on
General Education WASC requirements and any deficiencies with our current
General Education Curriculum.
NEW BUSINESS
4. Announcement from Dean Michael O’Donnell regarding Osher Lifelong Learning
Memberships.
5. Proposal from the Executive Committee to establish an ad-hoc By-Laws
Committee to suggest changes to the UHH Faculty Congress Charter and ByLaws, including:
 Proposal for a biennial administrative review administered to faculty by UHH
Faculty Congress.
 Establishing a permanent one course/semester teaching reduction for the
Chair of the Assessment Committee because of the work load.
 Establishing a one course teaching reduction for the Chair of the Budget
Committee in the Spring semester preceding the compilation of the biennium
budget (one course every two years).
 Establishing a teaching reduction rule for other Congress Committee Chairs
based on agenda and work load.
6. Proposal for a minimum of a three week break between Fall Commencement and
Spring Advising (advising began in the third week following Commencement this
year, with only a two week break between semesters) to be forwarded to the
President's office.
7. Consideration of a proposed Social Contract and Dispute Resolution Process
written by Rick Castberg.
