Abstract:
This project will initiate a Cultural Affiliation Study for the NAGPRA materials from the
Petrified Forest National Park and contribute towards publishing the Notice of Inventory
Completion in the Federal Register. 2 sets of collective consultation meetings with interested
tribes will be conducted in order to help craft the direction of this project and view NAGPRA
materials held in museum collections. These consultation meetings will contribute towards the
cultural affiliation study by providing additional information about the nature of tribal
involvement and interest in the NAGPRA materials from the Petrified Forest National Park.
1
Additionally, this project will begin the literature review of linguistic, historic, archaeological,
and anthropological evidence for the Cultural Affiliation Study.
