My World of Writing
Writing is like the weather.
- it varies
- it is always present
- can be used to describe ones mood/feelings
- needed to support survival
- caused by certain factors
Parental guidance to the road of writing
Teacher’s instruction down the written path
Motivated me to write yesterday
Self expression, comprehension and relaxation
Motivate me to write today
Remembrance, relating to, and respect for my life
Will motivate me to write tomorrow.
Writing is like a river.
- it flows
- smaller flowing sources, like streams, flow into it
- its destination is to filter into the sea or a large lake
- it can overflow
- it is a resource used for survival and everyday living
- different areas flow at different speeds according to its slope
The desire to write grows with writing. (Erasmus)
Writing is making sense of life. (Nadine Gordimer)

I love writing. I love the swirl and swing of words
as they tangle with human emotions. (James Michener)
To learn to write is to learn to have ideas. (Robert Frost)
I love to read. I love to observe and evaluate. I love to write. In school, I might not have
liked the topic I had to write about, but using my creative thoughts plus the topic at hand
equaled writing I could get into. Once I got into my writing, the result would be a pretty
good paper. I have many papers I received back in grade school with red marks
encouraging me to keep writing because I had writing potential. Many teachers, family
members and friends have been part of my writing “fan club,” but recently I have added
an outsider—the international poetry association. I recalled my father’s support and belief
in all my works. I took a step and wrote several poems and shared them on poetry.com. I
have been selected to be a part of their poetry book issue. Encouragement from others has
brought me to believe in myself and believe in my writing.
Writing is like driving a car.
- feeling of mixed emotions: excitement, frustration, fear, happiness, etc.
- with a destination, you know where you are headed and avoid wandering off
- without a specific destination, you drive according to what you feel at the moment
- it is just one of the many ways to travel
- cars come in many types, colors, features but they are all for driving
