Category 5 Briefly describe the activity/strategy. 1. Introduction Writing a letter to self in some quiet moments of reflection could help to renew his/her determination to "make it" with consistent effort. 2. Set up & Supplies paper and pencil, typing is not required. 3. Directions Each student is asked to write about their successes in the past, not limited to the subject matter of mathematics, and also looking ahead as how much closer he/she would be to his/her goal after passing this course successfully. 4. Conclusion Many participated and eager to term in the letter. From the writing, I could tell, they are really thinking hard about passing this course by working hard. There are some serious thought going in the writing. What worked well? Clearly state the points to be addressed, one past successes; two, how much closer you are to your goal after completing this course successfully.I read every letter and commented with positive the encouraging words. What would you change? Might make it a required work to earn credit. Would you use the activity/strategy again? Why or why not? I will try this strategy again. Please describe any student learning outcomes/changes that you observed after the implementation of the activity/strategy. Many students express appreciation for this activity. On the day I was asking if they have receive the letters, they sounded/looked happy. It feels great!
