Visitors: members of the Facilities Services Crew
Staffing Changes: (Bob Gann)
Power point presentation was provided explaining the permanent and temporary staffing
changes.
Facilities Services: (Tom Brown)
Tom provided a power point presentation on the types of assignments cover by his crew.
 Carpentry shop: responsible basically for everything that is not specifically an
electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or painting function, i.e.: roofing and installation.
 Lockshop: all doors, lock, padlocks and keys. Also the re-keying project.
 Paint: Interior, exterior, traffic markings and furniture refinishing.
 Plumbing: Domestic water, backflow devices, interior plumbing and the pool and
equipment.
 Welding: Fabricate items as needed and assists the plumbers with pipe connections.
Budget: (Bob Gann)
Positive aspects of new budget:
 Cola is 3.87%
 $950,000 for part time faculty
 Increase in funding for energy costs
 $14 million for Science complex
 Reserve of 5.7% for contingencies
Negative aspects of new budget:
 The Block Grant used to cover ECC’s matching dollars for funded projects is not
continued.
 Scheduled Maintenance is not continued (six projects = $2 mil.)
 Instructional equipment, Library materials and technical is not supported this budget
($750.000)
 Cola was only calculated on 61 million instead of the actual budget of 77.5
Scheduled Maintenance affected:
 Fire Alarm Replacement (Behavioral Science and Social Science bldg.)
 Business Education HVAC replacement
 Chilled Water Piping
 Women’s Shower & Locker HVAC Replacement
 Pool Roof Structural Upgrade
Group Feedback:
It was recommended that the Science Complex project involve an inspection process by
the in-house professionals to inspect the building as work progresses.
When will the Theater boiler be replaced? It will probably be repaired before it is
replaced.
Would be nice for all shops to be informed of the process used for contracted work – for
repair purposes.
Why is the state cutting the money, are they running out? Would appear as so, due to
the energy crises. The Governor is trying to prove solvency by making these cuts.
