


ECC is partnering with Healthy Families and Medi-Cal. Information is provided to students that
may not have health insurance. Students are being referred through SEP workshops.
Student applications for MAA are being accepted online
MAA funds will be used to offset counseling services expenses
SSTARS



The SSTARS breakfast will take place Friday, January 28th.
Opportunity drawing tickets are available at 3 tickets for $1 or 5 tickets for $2
Cal State University Long Beach has purchased a table.
Hiring Update



Due to the budget some positions may be frozen at any time of the year.
Dr. Smith received approval to hire adjunct faculty and she referred potential applicants to apply
at the job fair.
She will possibly hire 10-15 adjunct counselors. EOPS/CalWorks needs more counselors
Appointment Center



Dr. Smith had a meeting with the appointment center staff and Dr. Nishime to discuss the new
appointment process to accommodate the increase of students seeking an appointment on
Monday. It was recommended that appointments will be made Mondays from 9:00am-12:00pm
for the first 150 walk-in students. On Tuesday, appointments will be made from 3:00pm -5:30pm
for the first 150 students who call over the phone or walk-in person.
Each phone line holds 10 calls in the queue when calling over the phone to make an appointment.
Online planning appointments will be piloted this spring semester with SEP students on
probation.
Registration Timeline





During the 1st two weeks of school there will be one counselor per hour in Adds and Drops area
of the Activities Center.
There are more veteran student appointments
The hours of operation will remain the same except for the 1st two days of the week. The office
will open Monday and Tuesday at 8:00am. The last Friday of the 1st two weeks of school the
counselors will be in the Adds and Drops area from 3:00-7:00pm
No class visits for special programs. One SEP per week during the 1st two weeks of school.
The new counseling faculty will be presenting the new student orientations.

We Love ECC Day

An email will be sent out for all faculty and staff requesting the wear pink and red this day for the
American Heart Association Awareness Month for Women.
Flex Day



Flex day is Wednesday, February 9th. Satish will present on the E-SARS component from
10:30am 12:00pm.
Adjunct faculty can attend,
First Year Experience will be presenting at Flex Day.
Financial Aid



Cal Grant application is due March 2nd
GPA verifications
Calculations for Academic Progress are currently being processed.
New Student Welcome Day



Dr. Smith suggested the committee should create a volunteer box requesting for participation.
B. Flameno is making a list of things that need to be improved from last year.
New vendors are being considered for the ordering of items.
Project Success



February 11th there will be a fieldtrip to USC and the Museum of Tolerance
February 18th there will be a workshop.
February 22nd there will be a project success play for black history month.
