COUNCIL ON ACADEMIC ASSESSMENT (CAA)
MINUTES, NOVEMBER 21, 2011

1. Call to order. New student members Gregory Albert and Jess Braunstein were introduced.
2. The minutes of the October 24, 2011 meeting were reviewed and approved.
3. Chairs’ Reports
a. CAA (Adrian Masters). No Senate/governance business to report.
b. PRC (Sean Rafferty). The PRC met on Friday the 18th and approved the
Committee’s report on the Women’s Studies program review. LACS will be
reviewed at the December meeting. Discussions are underway to re-convene last
year’s PRC to approve drafts for four of the six program reviews.
c. GEAC (Rich Matyi). The Committee met on November 9th to review its mission
and determine its plan and procedures for the year. The Chair will review and
present on the first general education category at the December meeting.
4. Director’s Report (Joel Bloom). This year’s reviews are proceeding in both general
education and program reviews. It was agreed that Outlook would be used to facilitate
future meetings.
5. Old Business: none.
6. New Business
a. Women’s Studies PRC Report (Janine Jurkowski). After discussion, the report
was approved with minor modifications, mostly in the area of more detailed
suggestions in the Department’s assessment plans, with suggestions to coordinate
additional activity with the Director of Assessment. It was agreed that Jurkowski
would make the changes in consultation with Bruce Szelest.
