PROCEDURES
Grading: All grades will be recorded using percentages. Grades for tests, quizzes, homework,
and binder check will determine the final grade by using the following scale:
50% Test and Quiz Scores
35% Homework Scores
15 % Nine Weeks and Semester Tests
Math Binder is one test grade- The student is expected to have their Math Binder in class each
day. All graded papers, bell work, notes, tests, and other class material should be kept in the
binder. I will check them at the end of the 9-weeks.
Bell Work entered grade will be in the daily assignment category. 5 bell works are equal to one
assignment.
9 Weeks and Semester Exam
Nine weeks and semester exams will count for 15% of the student’s grade. These are district
wide and cannot be corrected or retaken.
Assignments
Each day at the start of class we will answer questions on the previous night’s assignment, after
which you will be given the opportunity to correct any work and grade the following day. ALL
WORK MUST BE SHOWN TO RECEIVE CREDIT. All classwork and homework will be done in
pencil. After you grade you will correct in colored pen. All corrected papers are to be put into
your Math Binder. Copying will result in a zero. Grading and correcting is done with a colored
pen other than BLACK. (i.e.; red, purple, or blue)
Absent Work
Students will turn in work according to the Student Handbook policy, allowing one day for each
day absent. When you return to school from being absent, the student is responsible for turning
the assignment that was made on the last day present, checking the assignment board to find
out the missing assignments, and copying the notes for the days absent. If you are absent for a
school sponsored activity, then the assignment will be due before you go (unless previous
arrangements have been made with me). It is the responsibility of the student to turn their work
into me.
Test Retakes
Any student who receives a grade below an 80% on a test may retake the test. The retake must
be request and scheduled with me to be taken before or after school and within one week. The
highest grade a student may receive on a retake is an 85%.
Extra Credit
Math teachers will not offer extra credit assignments.
Late Assignments
Late assignments will be accepted for full credit with a late assignment pass the next day. Only
3 passes per semester. After that you will be assigned homework lunch (HWL) the following
day. It may be handed into me that morning or Mr. Eaton for 80%. Your parents will be
contacted.
Homework Lunch
Students will be assigned HWL for missing or late work. They will have homework lunch the
next day. The student may turn it in before HWL for 80% of the grade. Failure of a student to
attend HWL will result in a detention being assigned and 50% of the grade will be recorded.
Your parents will be contacted.
Students who fail to attend an assigned homework lunch three times without an approved
excuse will no longer be offered the opportunity to make-up work. Students who have lost the
privilege of making up work in homework lunch will have missing assignments recorded as a
zero.
Hall Passes
Passes will not be given except in extreme emergencies. No passes will be issued during large
group discussion or explanation of concepts. Lockers and the restroom should be visited before
class .You will be given 2 per 9 weeks use them wisely.
Tardiness
The tardy policy will be strictly enforced. Remember, two tardies equal one unexcused absence
and eleven absences in a semester results in a no credit.
Agenda
Copy the information for your agenda on Monday from the Agenda Poster. Make changes or
corrections in your agenda when necessary.
Sharpening Pencils
Sharpen pencils before class begins. Pencils cannot be sharpened during large discussions or
explanations of concepts. During independent work pencils can be sharpened without asking
permission. Simply walk quietly to pencil sharpener, sharpen pencil, and return to desk without
disrupting other students.
Tissue
Except in an emergency, do not get out of your desk for a tissue during large discussions or
explanation of concepts. During independent work you may get a tissue without asking
permission. Simply walk to a tissue box, get a tissue and return to your desk without disrupting
other students.
PLEASE PLACE THE PREVIOUS PAPERS IN YOUR MATH BINDER AND FILL OUT AND
RETURN ACCORDING TO THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW, BY MONDAY, AUGUST 24, 2015.
