Each student received a bookmark to keep with the following information on it: UNRAAVEL the Story By Larry Bell Underline the title Now predict what the story is about Run through and # the paragraphs Are you reading the ?s Are the important words circled? Venture through and read the passage (Ad-Venture!) Eliminate the wrong answers Let the ?s be answered, and write the paragraph # where you found the answer. <3 DR *Freedom Writers Diary – a lesson in Characterization: Students will learn about the conflicts this group of teens faced in this true story of racial tension, and how one teacher, Erin Gruwell, made a difference in her students’ lives by getting them to write their stories and work together! We will watch the film based on this book – rated PG-13 for gang violence and some language. I ordinarily do not allow any language in my classroom, but this story is so powerful, I hope you will partner with me in the endeavor to teach kids how to overcome adversity in life. Please let me know if you have any questions about this material. *PreAP Students: Define the 10 vocabulary words from List 3 for their test on Friday. PreAP students are also working on group projects over books of “The Odyssey,” which they will present to the class on Monday, February 1. *Jaguar NEWS: **Don’t forget to check my website and Class Calendar there to see what is going on each week.
